Glasgow West End

The Glasgow shop is the newest, which means it still has that slightly optimistic feeling of a place that has not yet been worn in. It is on Byres Road, which is the right street for a bookshop — close enough to the university to attract people who argue about books for a living, far enough away that we are not obliged to stock the reading lists.

Glasgow has always taken its literary culture seriously, and we try to match that. Expect a strong Scottish fiction section, a poetry shelf that punches above its weight, and staff who will defend their recommendations at length. The city has opinions. So do we.
